Persona 5 The Royal Gets Morgana’s Report #1

Atlus shared the latest series of news videos focused on the new story content. Moreover, the latest Famitsu has revealed some new details for the new director and producer for Persona 5: The Royal. This is an enhanced re-release game, it has a new director and producer, both Daiki Itoh and Kazuhisa Wada, respectively.

While Itoh was the lead confidant planner on the original version, he was also the project director on Persona 4 Golden. Wada had no involvement with the original Persona 5, but served as chief designer on Persona 4 Golden, as well as director on Persona 4 Arena (and Ultimax), and Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

The original director on the game, Katsura Hashino, moved on to work on the upcoming Project Re Fantasy as director and producer, with their new team Studio Zero.

This week’s Famitsuwhich also shared a glimpse at some of the new features. In addition to new elements, Atlus is working on quality-of-life improvements, such as improving its tempo by making it easier to earn experience points. The developers say  that Persona 5 Royal’s third semester is being prepared to go beyond expectations of those who played through Persona 4 Golden.

We also got another look at the mysterious character, simply called イケメン (“Ikemen” meaning handsome/good-looking man). The magazine suggests his connection to Morgana as he uses the same archaic personal pronoun “wagahai” just like the Phantom Thieves’ second-in-command.

The “Kyoma” are powerful new enemies you’ll encounter.

The game also adds new mechanics for the Palaces that we didn’t see in the original Persona 5.

Featured aboveis the first episode in the new “Morgana’s Report” series focuses on the new story bits in the enhanced re-release, including new Kasumi Yoshizawa, new confidant Takuto Maruki, and the third school semester. Morgana’s Report #2 is coming sometime in June.

We got to see a part of the first meeting between Joker and new character Kasumi Yoshizawa. Joker helps her when some creep is bothering her. The second part of the video focuses on the new daily activities and Phantom Thieves activities.

Persona 5: The Royal is launching for PlayStation 4 on October 31st, 2019 in Japan, and sometime on 2020 in North America and Europe.
