Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy Battle System Detailed!

Operation Babel - Features

NIS America shared new details for its upcoming RPG Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy! As seen from the official website, the updates include a brief introduction to the gameplay system, which includes: Game Concept, Battle System, Strengthening. Check out all the details and screenshot previews below!

Game Concept

You were just a normal student at Hinowa Academy, until one day you were selected to join the special forces unit known as the Xth Squad. Meanwhile, Tokyo is on the verge of total destruction! Rampaging Variants are attacking civilians in the city labyrinth, and it’s up to you to go in and stop them.

The game features a finely tuned difficulty curve and an overwhelming amount of content, as well as the new “Cross Blood” system.

It’s time to experience the next evolution of dungeon crawlers, which improves and expands on the original Operation Abyss!

Battle System

  • Unity Skills — Unity Skills are special skills that can only be unleashed when all team members cooperate. There are three types of Unity Skills: BRAVE, MAGIC, and ACADEMY. Look for the perfect moment to execute them in order to maximize their impact!
  • XTND Skills/Spells — This brand-new feature further empowers skills and spells by allowing you to equip them with special items. Once equipped, team members can use these abilities regardless of their Blood Code.

The battle features a fast-paced turn-based system. From direct attacks to Blood Code skills and spells, you’ll have access to various and diverse moves. Each Blood Code has its own set of skills, which will increase as you level up. There are over 140 spells and abilities, and you’ll need them all to take down the most ferocious enemies called Variants! The Rise & Drop system of the game also guarantees that as the danger increases, so does the potential rewards!

  • Healing, curing, and leveling up — If your party is in danger, you always have the option to retreat and use the Medical Lab to heal and cure your team. You’ll also earn EXP in battle which you can use to level up your Blood Codes, which will unlock new skills and spells.
  • Creating stronger items — Among the items that the enemy drops after a fight, you’ll sometimes find junk weapons and materials. Once you identify these items, they’ll become Codes, which you can then use to create stronger weapons or items. With this system you can fully strengthen all of your favorite weapons.

Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy will be available for PlayStation Vita and PC on May 16th in North America and May 19th in Europe. Learn more about the game here.
