Nintendo Announced Companion App for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch Companion App

During Splatoon 2‘s Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo announced a mobile companion app for the Nintendo Switch, which is planned to be launched alongside Splatoon 2 on July 21, 2017.

The companion app is “designed to enhance your online experience for compatible games on the Nintendo Switch console.” In other words, the app will give you access to game-specific features, with the first being Splatoon 2‘s new SplatNet 2 feature. SplatNet 2 allows you to see your online battle stats, gears, and many more. Within the app, you can also send online play invitations to the players in your friend list via social media and even messaging service.

When an invitation is sent to you, you’ll receive a push notification on your smartphone, and you can use it for voice-chat. However, the voice-chat support is on a game-to-game basis.

Nintendo Switch Online Companion App is scheduled to release on July 21, 2017.
