In the recent livestream hosted by Dengeki PlayStation, producers Eijiro Nishimura and Yosuke Saito shared more details on the upcoming RPG NieR: Automata such as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro comparison, difficulty levels, parka jackets and NieR Music Concert & Talk Live Blu-ray, weapons, collaborations, and guidebooks.
PlayStation 4 VS PlayStation 4 Pro
The producers confirmed that NieR: Automata will be getting PlayStation 4 Pro support. The game runs at 60 fps on both PS4 Pro and regular PS4, but the resolution for the regular PS4 is native 1600 x 900, while for the PS4 pro is 1920 x 1080.
Of course, the game runs better on PlayStation 4 Pro. Platinum Games plans to utilize further the console’s capability. The PS4 Pro version of the game has motion blur effect added, better lighting filter effects, and improved shadows.
From the livestream, it can be seen that the game will be available in four difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard. The livestream showcased the Easy, Hard, and Very Hard mode of the game which can be seen in the video at 00:10:45, 00:16:30, and 00:22:20 respectively. The auto mode will be available on the Easy difficulty level, while on the Very Hard difficulty level, it is possible to be killed in one hit.
2B Parka and NieR Music Concert & Talk Live Blu-ray
They also showcased the 2B Parka jacket that will be available for purchase later at the upcoming Jump Festa in Tokyo between December 17 and December 18, as well as the NieR Music Concert & Talk Live Blu-ray.
The RPG element of the game was showcased in the video at 00:28:20, including the refugee settlement which also has a weapon shop. The shop sells weapons from the Drakengard series. An Engine Blade as a part of the collaboration with Final Fantasy XV will also be obtainable in the game through a quest.
Crossovers with other video game titles were also announced. As seen in the two pictures above, NieR: Automata is going to get crossovers with Phantasy Star Online 2 and Monster Hunter Frontier Z. More details to be announced at a later date.
Two guidebooks will also be released in Japan: one will be released by Square Enix, and the other one will be released by Kadokawa. The one published Square Enix will release at the same day as the game’s release date, while the other one will release later in late March.
NieR: Automata will be available for PlayStation 4 on February 23, 2017 in Japan, March 7, 2017 in North America, and March 10, 2017 in Europe and Australia. The PC version will release sometime in 2017.
