NieR: Automata Demo to Release at the End of 2016, Black Box Edition Announced

During the stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2016, Square Enix announced that a demo for NieR: Automata is currently under development. The demo is planned to release at the end of 2016. Producer Yosuke Saito mentioned that he wanted to let the players to properly experience NieR: Automata with a 30-40 minute demo in a sit-down-and-play kind of volume in last month’s issue of Famitsu.

They also showcased a 24-minute gameplay at TGS 2016:

Square Enix also announced a Black Box Edition for NieR: Automata exclusively via Square Enix e-Store. The limited edition costs 25,800 Yen, which includes the following:

  • NieR: Automata for PlayStation 4
  • NieR: Automata YoRHa No.2 Type B character figure
  • NieR Music Concert & Talk Live Soundtrack
  • NieR: Automata Artbook
  • NieR: RepliCant Recollection “Gestalt Project Memoirs” Novel
  • Download code for a special item in NieR: Automata

The company also plans to release the Music Concert & Live Talk CD on Blu-ray disc. More details to come.


NieR: Automata will release on February 23, 2017 for PlayStation 4 in Japan. The game is expected to release in the west for PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2017. See all Tokyo Game Show 2016 news coverage here.
