Final Fantasy XV‘s release surely outshone every news we have in November for obvious reasons. However, Pokémon Sun and Moon also released around a week before Final Fantasy XV. There are other things worth to pay attention to in November. Check them all out in our monthly recap for November 2016.

Final Fantasy XV - Title

It’s here. It’s finally here. The long-awaited Final Fantasy XV is finally released. It still feels surreal at times, knowing that this game is finally within grasp. A few weeks prior to its release, Square Enix really tried to build up the hype as much as they can by releasing gameplay trailers, soundtrack trailers, countdown artworks, and many more.

New games announced!

  • Zero Escape: The Nonary Games

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games - Feature

Aksys Games and Spike Chunsoft announced a compilation game titled The Nonary Games, which contains HD remake of both Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward! It will be released as soon as Spring 2017 for both PC and PS Vita.

  • Final Fantasy Legends II

Final Fantasy Legends II

Ready for a brand new Final Fantasy series in your smartphone? Square Enix announced Final Fantasy Legends II for both Android and iOS. Directed by the creator of Chrono Trigger Takashi Tokita, the game will feature a fresh new storyline.

  • Miitopia

Miitopia Announced

During the Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo revealed a new 3DS game titled Miitopia, planned to release on December 8th 2016. The game is class-based RPG featuring mini characters called Mii, which can be assigned various personalities that will affect their performance.

  • Cafe 0 ~The Sleeping Beast~

Cafe 0 ~The Sleeping Beast~ - Feature

Japanese indie game developer RoseVeRte is launching a new VN titled Cafe 0 ~The Sleeping Beast~! This unique VN is a full fledged mystery story, featuring two different main stories with different timelines that will collide in the end! The game is now available through Steam for PC.

  • Bravely Default: Fairy’s Effect

Bravely Default - Fairy's Effect - Featured

Square Enix and Silicon Studio has announced that the Bravely Default series is coming to smartphones! Titled Bravely Default: Fairy’s Effect, it is planned to release for both Android and iOS in 2017.

  • Astral Frontier

Astral Frontier - Feature

Yet another mobile game arrives! Kemco just released a new classical RPG titled Astral Frontier! The game features a unique leveling system, during the end of battles there will be random stat increases, instead of the conventional stat increase per level. The game is now available for Android through the Google Play Store.

  • Otomon Drop: Monster Hunter Stories

Monster Hunter Stories - Otomon Abilities

Capcom just announced a Monster Hunter series for smartphones! Based on the anime series, the game Otomon Drop: Monster Hunter Stories will feature a puzzle matching game! The game is now available in Japan for both iOS and Android.

  • Brave Dungeons

Brave Dungeons, Legend of Dark Witch side story

Inside System just revealed a new side story of the 3DS game The Legend of Dark Witch! Titled Brave Dungeons, the game is now available in Japan through the Nintendo eShop.

  • Never Forget Me

Loves otome games? Check out Winter Wolvesnew VN Never Forget Me, a unique dating sim where the story actually starts after the protagonist got married! Can you survive and stay together until the end? The game is now available for PC.

  • Princess is Money Hungry Browser Version

Princess is Money Hungry

Nippon Ichi Software revealed that the newly released Princess is Money Hungry got a spin-off browser version! It is a side scrolling game where the goal is to collect coins and bribe the bosses with them. Curious? You can try it here. The original game itself is now available in Japan for PS Vita.

  • God Wars: Future Past

God Wars Header

NIS America has announced that God Wars: Future Past is getting a collector’s edition! It will feature a collector box, artbook, soundtracks, cloth poster, and a pocket mirror, complete with a copy of God Wars: Future Past for PS4 or PS Vita.

Release date revealed!

  • Apollo Justice

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney - Feature

After having been revealed last month that Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney will have smartphone release, its release date is finally revealed. The iOS version launches on December 1, while the Android version is coming a week later.

  • Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death - Featured

Visual novel Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death is coming to 3DS at the end of March next year. It will also have Treasure Box edition. Click here to read more and see the gameplay footage!

  • Blue Reflection: Sword of the Girl Who Dance in Illusion

Blue Reflection gets more beautiful screenshots - featured

GUST‘s Blue Reflection finally have a release date. This Sailor Moon-like RPG will launch on March 30 2017 in Japan. The price list for PS4 and PS Vita version is different which can be checked here.

  • Chaos; Child Love Chu Chu!

Chaos; Child Love Chu Chu Feature

Chaos;Child spin-off game, Chaos; Child Love Chu Chu! is coming to PS4 and PS Vita on March 30 next year. The focus of this game is different from its predecessor. Read here for more info about the game!

  • Digimon World: Next Order

Digimon World: Next Order International Version gets first trailer

January 27 and 31 next year will be the happy days for Digimon lovers in Europe and North America, as Digimon World: Next Order international version comes out on those days! This PS4 version of Digimon World: Next Order will also have pre-ordur bonus, which contents can be seen here.

  • Dragon Ball Fusions

Dragon Ball Fusion

Dragon Ball Fusions‘ release date is not delayed, but sped up! Previously announced to release on December 13, this game was announced to release three weeks prior instead. Now you can play the game’s North America version in 3DS!

  • Dragon Quest VIII

Dragon Quest VIII - Featured

Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King will be released on January 20 2017 in North America and Europe. Check here to read more about the game and the difference from its PS2 version!

  • Dungeon Travelers 2-2

Dungeon Travelers 2-2

Dungeon crawler game, Dungeon Travelers 2-2 makes April 20 2017 as its release date. A list of its premium edition’s content can be checked here.

  • Grisaia: Phantom Trigger

Grisaia Phantom Trigger - Feature

Grisaia series’ sequel, Grisaia: Phantom Trigger will be released on April 28 next year! Along with the release date announcement, more screenshots for the game were also revealed.

Re-port/Remaster

  • Banshee’s Last Cry

Spike Chunsoft and 5pb. will make a remake of Super Famicom’s Banshee Last Cry. This game will be released on February 16 2017. It will feature new visuals, scenarios, and voice actors. Check here for more info about the game’s story and screenshots!

  • Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultimate Despair Girls

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultimate Despair Girls Announced - 6

Previously released as a PS Vita exclusive, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is announced for PS4 in North America and Europe. Spike Chunsoft will also port the game to be released on Steam. As always, the game will have limited edition.

  • Desire: Remaster Version

Desire Remaster Version - Feature

C’s Ware is releasing a visual novel remaster called Desire: Remaster Version. It will be available for both PS Vita and PC on April 27, 2017 in Japan. It will feature a digitally remastered version of the original images used in the Sega Saturn version of the game.

  • Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force, first released exclusively in PS4, is announced for Steam release next year. The game will have both English and Japanese text.

Delayed release date

  • Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia

Dissidia Final Fantasy - Opera Omnia - Delayed

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia release date is delayed because Square Enix need to deal with bugs issues. Therefore, it will be released for iOS and Android in early 2017 in Japan. Check our post here for further details.

  • Night of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon

Night of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon SS1

Koei Tecmo are unsatisfied with Night of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon‘s graphic quality. So, they need to improve it which make the game release date delayed from December 22nd, 2016 to sometime in February 2017.

  • Persona 5

Persona 5 - English voice cast revealed

Atlus pushed back Persona 5‘s western release date from February 14th, 2017 to April 4th, 2017. They said they want to get the game’s quality as high as possible for player’s best performance.

  • Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey

The newest Atelier seriesAtelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey is going to get English release for PC in Spring 2017! Moreover, this is the first Atelier series which lands on Windows. You can check more about this here.

  • Black Rose Valkyrie

Dark Rose Valkyrie - Feature

Idea Factory International bring forth Compile Heart‘s Black Rose Valkyrie to west in early Spring 2017! Due to copyright issue, they change the name to Dark Rose Valkyrie.

  • Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden

Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden Poster

Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden is announced for English release as the title becomes Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers! Thus, it will release on January 31st in North America and February 1st in Europe.

  • Hakuoki: Shinkai Kaze Head

Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds - Feature

Idea Factory International is going to release otome visual novel Hakuoki: Shinkai Kaze Head to west as Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds! This game will be available in North America and Europe in Spring 2017.

  • Godly Prison Tower: Mary Skelter

Divine Prison Tower - Mary Skelter - Key art

Compile Heart‘s Godly Prison Tower: Mary Skelter will get English release in North America and Europe in Summer 2017. Also, this dungeon-crawling RPG will be known as Mary Skelter: Nightmares for its western version. Read more about this here.

Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy

NIS America will release the English version for Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy in Spring 2017! Furthermore, you can choose between Japanese or English audio! You can check here for more information regarding this.

  • Re: Sharin no Kuni

Re: Sharin no Kuni - Screenshot 3

Dystopian visual novel game Re: Sharin no Kuni gets English localization which will release sometime in August by Tokyo Otaku Mode. In addition, there’s also a preview of its Kickstarter campaign as you can see here.

A few days after Bravely Default: Fairy’s Effect entered closed beta phase, a gameplay footage and screenshots taken from the closed beta phase surfaced online.

Atlus released an English trailer for the delayed Persona 5, showing the gameplay mechanic of the game, such as part-time work, training at the gym, relationship with others, and many more.

An issue of Famitsu featured screenshots of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Those screenshots focus more on Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-, the time when Aqua entered the Realm of Darkness.

  • Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV - Patch 3.5 - The Far Edge of Fate

In the recent Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, Square Enix announced patch 3.5 for Final Fantasy XIV, titled The Far Edge of Fate, to launch in mid-January 2017. First details of the upcoming major patch were also shared during the broadcast.

  • Unlucky Mage

Unlucky Mage - Featured

Exe Create released a launch trailer for Unlucky Mage to celebrate its release on Nintendo 3DS via Nintendo eShop. The game itself was originally released as a mobile game, and apparently, made its way to the handheld console.

  • Xanadu Next

Xanadu Next Feature

XSEED Games revealed a launch trailer for Xanadu Next as the game is now available via Steam, GOG.com, and Humble Store. Not only that, the company also shared some screenshots of the game.

  • Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV - TV Commercial - Xbox One

As mentioned before, Square Enix shared a lot of gameplay footages of Final Fantasy XV to build up the hype before its release. The gameplay footages showcase the battle with Titan, infiltrating the Niflheim base, and many more. The company also released another demo of the game in Japan titled “Judgment Disc“, and a video showing how the demo runs in regular PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One surfaced online.

  • Tyranny

Tyranny Feature

Tyranny is now available for PC, and Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment released a launch trailer of the game. Click here to see the detail.

A new trailer for Danganronpa V3: Everyone’s New Semester of Murder had been released by Spike Chunsoft. The trailer introduces the characters of the game. Additionally, the official website of the game was updated with details about the minigames.

PQube shared the details of the characters that will appear in the sci-fi visual novel Steins;Gate 0. The company introduced new characters like Amadeus, Maho Hiyajo, Yuki Amane, and many more.
