Welcome second semester of 2019! This year, first semester of the year is ending beautifully because of E3 2019 which starts on June 8. E3, along with ending the first semester, also becomes a foreshadowing for a bright second semester. Anyway, let’s see what June has brought to us, including what happened in E3!
Final Fantasy VII Remake
A lot of things about Final Fantasy VII Remake were unveiled on E3 2019. Included in it was trailer, release date, screenshots, English VA, and also collector edition. You can check all of them here, including what was discussed in the event.
E3 2019 Event
The E3 event this year brings us quite a number of interesting news. We get an announcement for Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind DLC, for example. Still from Square Enix, we also get announcement for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles remastered, Final Fantasy VII Remake release date, The Last Remnant remastered version, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, SaGa new games, Seiken Densetsu 3 Remake, and Dragon Quest XI S release date. Other interesting news are also the release date for Oninaki and Code Vein. The announcement of Tales of Arise, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Puzzle and Dragons Gold, and Disgaea 4 Complete+ are also worth to mention. Oh, and have we mentioned the amazing trailers of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound and Debriefed? Puzzle & Dragons Gold
GungHo Entertainment announced the hit jewel swapping RPG Puzzle & Dragons Switch version is coming! It will be titled Puzzle & Dragons Gold. Unfortunately, except that the fact that this game will come to Switch, nothing new is unveiled yet.
Tales of Arise
During the Xbox E3 2019 media briefing, Bandai Namco revealed the first Tales of Arise trailer. It planned to be released next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Some highlights from the interview, characters introduction, and trailer can also be seen altogether here.
Dragon Quest Walk
Square Enix decided to add a breath of Pokémon Go-like gameplay into their up-and-coming smartphone game, Dragon Quest Walk. Some features for the game are already revealed, along with its trailer.
Persona 5 Royal
Atlus just shared “Straight Flush Edition” of the game, that is available for pre-order for 13,800 yen plus tax that include DLC costume, artbook, soundtrack, and more. Release Date Revealed
Square Enix just announced the release date of Oninaki English version during this year’s E3. This Tokyo RPG Factory-developed game is planned to be released on August 22nd, 2019 for Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Bandai Namco finally announced the release date for Code Vein. The action RPG is planned to be released across Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 27th, 2019. The game also got a release date announcement trailer that can be checked here.
The Alliance Alive
For you in NA and EU, publisher NIS America finally announced the western release dates for The Alliance Alive HD Remastered. This FuRyu-developed RPG will be playable on October 8th in North America and October 11th in Europe, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. A Windows PC release will be dated later.
Dragon Quest XI S
Square Enix has revealed the official launch date of the long-awaited and anticipated game, Dragon Quest XI S. Players will be able to enjoy Dragon Quest XI S on Nintendo Switch by September 27, 2019.
Video game developer Mistwalker‘s latest mobile game Terra Wars has been announced. The game, which was designed for Android and iOS, adapts to changes in terms of gameplay mechanics to better suit mobile players. Even so, casual gamers and hardcores alike undoubtedly will be able to enjoy this game into its full extent. The trailer can be watched here.
Re-port / Remastered
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
Square Enix, perhaps, gave us the biggest surprise in this year’s E3. Why, you ask? Not only Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is also announced! This HD remaster will release for Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch!
Seiken Densetsu 3 Remake
During E3 2019, Square Enix also revealed another RPG they will remake, this time is Seiken Densetsu 3. Because it’s for the first time in English, the new title is Trials of Mana, for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime on 2020.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered
Square Enix already confirmed the release for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered, which is planned to launch this winter for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Smartphones versions for bothiOS and Android were also confirmed.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
XSEED Games announced Sakuna: Rice of Ruin Switch version! It will release along with the other versions previously confirmed. New screenshots are also revealed. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin will be available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Winter 2019.
Dragon Star Varnir
After the news of its release date for the west, Idea Factory International has announced Dragon Star Varnir PC version! It will come with all contents available in the Japanese version. It will also have three subtitles: Japanese, English, and Traditional Chinese. The trailer is also revealed.
Disgaea 4 Complete+
During this year’s E3, NIS America confirmed that Disgaea 4 Complete+ will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch (check out their corresponding tweet here). Players will be able to enjoy the ultimate version of the game including the base game, the DLCs, additional modes, new pirate ship parts, and also some additional characters. In addition, some tweaks and changes to the gameplay mechanics will also take place.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was renowned Game of the Year of the same period, and it has successfully presented the genre RPG to a whole new level for casuals and hardcores alike. I even remember that griffin fight in the prologue; sliced its head off clean, too. The developer CD Projekt Red collaborates with Nintendo to offer you a breathtaking port to Nintendo Switch.
The Last Remnant Remastered
Following our post regarding The Last Remnant Remastered trailer, you can enjoy the game that made our list of 7 Hardest JRPGs now on your favorite Nintendo Switch console. The game, which was initally released on Xbox in 2008, underwent many changes, improvements, and remasters simply because it is an engaging classic with gripping gameplay.
Localization to English Announced
SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions and Romancing SaGa 3
On E3 2019, Square Enix, again, has announced something. It is SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions and Romancing SaGa 3 western releases! The trailer for both games are also announced. No release date is revealed so far, but we will keep you guys updated.
Now, brought to your personal platforms by publishers Koei Tecmo and Gust, the long-awaited Atelier Ryza is now coming for PC, PS4, and Switch with an even more engaging English localization for every aspect of the game.
Important RPG Update (+ Demo)
Kingdom Hearts III
During Kingdom Hearts: World of Tres orchestra event in Los Angeles, Nomura Tetsuya revealed further details about the Kingdom Hearts III: ReMIND DLC. The DLC will add both the new “Re:Mind” scenario, as well a Secret Episode and boss, a Limit Cut Episode and bosses, and an English voice-over option for the Japanese version – and more.
Final Fantasy VII
Raise your hand if you’re so anxious with Final Fantasy VII Remake release, well then, I’m raising both of my hands. Square Enix perfectly gave us the new updates to devour, from the run-down of English voice actors and actresses, new screenshots, Honey Bee Inn dressing event, to even -ehem- Tifa’s breast size issue, and more.
In collaboration with The Pokemon Company, DeNA has declared that the up-and-coming mobile game will be out sometime this summer. Via their official YouTube channel, the developers have released a new preview video for Pokemon Masters.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Now, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT–a next-gen only arcade version of the game–introduces Tifa from our beloved Final Fantasy VII to join on the battle with Cloud and other Final Fantasy protagonists. Previously, Tifa was also featured in Dissidia 012 as a warrior fighting for Cosmos–the goddess of harmony.

Final Fantasy XIV
Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind Entertainment just announced a live-action television series based on Final Fantasy XIV. The show will feature an original story within the world of Eorzea, and will focus on “the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict.” The other details are still scant.
