Nintendo NX Revealed as Nintendo Switch

It’s already 2017! Are you ready for what’s welcoming us in this beginning of 2017? We’re off to a good start, as a number of details about Nintendo Switch is coming this month. Beside that, other interesting news are also worth reading. Below is our recap for this month.

  • Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary - Feature

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy universe, Square Enix hosted a special event at the Toho Cinema Roppongi Hills venue in Tokyo, featuring a lot of announcements! Included in the announcement is a remake artwork, FF manga, and more. You can see the list of announcements and their details here!

  • Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch

Nintendo recently just revealed more info for its upcoming console, Nintendo Switch. The info does not only cover the console’s details, but also the worldwide release date and list of games! Some of the games confirmed to be released on Nintendo Switch are Octopath Traveler, Fire Emblem Warriors, Heroes, & Echoes, I Am Setsuna, Dragon Quest Heroes, and an untitled Shin Megami Tensei series. New games announced!

  • Death Mark

Developer Experience announced a new horror VN Death Mark! This game is soon to be released for PS Vita. Meanwhile, you can check the trailer and screenshots in advance here.

  • Exile Election

Exile Election - Feature

Nippon Ichi Software announced a new murderous Danganronpa-esque visual novel titled Exile Election! The game’s development is expected to release for both PS4 and PS Vita on April 27th in Japan.

  • Pokemon Duel

Pokemon Duel

Pokemon Co-Master, a Pokemon game for smartphone released in Japan, has come to western region! The game is titled as Pokemon Duel. The game is already available for download now!

  • Unhack 2

Unhack 2 - Screenshot 1

Hacking-themed visual novel Unhack 2, the sequel of a futuristic visual novel created by indie developer InvertMouse is now available on Steam! You can check the trailer, screenshots, and story overview here!

Collector’s Edition announced!

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild master edition

Nintendo announced a limited edition for one of Nintendo Switch’s games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This limited edition is called ‘Master Edition’.

Release date revealed!

  • Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultimate Despair Girl

Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls - FeatureNIS America finally revealed the release date of the upcoming Danganronpa spin-off, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultimate Despair Girl! The game will be released for PS4 on June 23rd in Europe and on June 27th in North America, while the PC edition hasn’t received any official release date yet.

  • Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns Pre-order Bonus - featuredIn celebration of the 20th anniversary of the longest farming simulation series Story of Seasons, XSEED is returning with a brand new title Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns! The game is soon to be released for 3DS on February 28th in North America!

  • God Wars: Future Past

God Wars: Future Past TitleLove Japanese folklore? NIS America has announced that their new strategy JRPG God Wars: Future Past will be released by the end of March! Specifically, the game will be released for both PS4 and PS Vita on March 28th in North America and March 31st in Europe.

  • Zero Escape: The Nonary Games

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games - FeatureSpike Chunsoft‘s Zero Escape: The Nonary Games is coming soon! The bundle game containing the remastered version of both Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward will be released on March 25th for PC, while the PS Vita and PS4 versions will be released on April 13th.

  • Mobius Final Fantasy PC Version

Mobius Final Fantasy LogoSquare Enix announced that the mobile FF title Mobius Final Fantasy is coming to PC as soon as February 6th! The game is already available for both Android and iOS devices, and players will be able to synchronize the save data to be played on the PC version!

  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age AsheThe western release for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is finally confirmed! During the 30th anniversary event of the FF series, Square Enix has revealed that the remastered edition will be releasing on July 11th in North America and July 13th in Europe

  • I Am Setsuna

I am Setsuna PosterThe classic JRPG Chrono Trigger inspired I Am Setsuna is coming for Nintendo Switch! Square Enix has confirmed that both the Japanese and English versions of the game will be releasing on March 3rd. The game was previously released for PlayStation 4 and PC as a digital release.


  • Fault Milestone One & Root Double

Fault Milestone One - Feature

Sekai Project revealed that both ports of Fault Milestone One and Root Double: Before Crime After Days Xtend Edition are coming! The games will release as soon as Q1 of 2017! As the foreword, you may check both games’ trailers and stories overview here.

  • Ni No Kuni II

Not only launching for PS4, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is also coming for PC! The trailer for the PC version can be watched here.
  • Rei-Jin-G-Lu-P


Kemco just revealed that their horror VN Rei-Jin-G-Lu-P is getting a PS Vita port! Previously, in 2015, the game was launched on smartphone in Japan. The new port itself will feature new full voiceover, CG events, new scenarios, and touchscreen controls!

Localization to English Announced

  • Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception

Aquaplus‘ popular title Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception is coming to the west alongside its sequel, Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth! The former will be released soon for both PS4 and PS Vita this Spring in North America and Europe, while the latter will be released in Fall.

  • Taisho Alice

Taisho Alice - Screnshot 1Otome visual novel by Primula, Taisho Alice, is coming to the west! E2 Gaming has announced that they’re localizing the series and the first episode will be due on March 2017, for PC!

  • Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia

Famitsu had an interview with Square Enix regarding the upcoming smartphone RPG Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. The interview, which can be seen here, details some gameplay elements.

  • Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV - Patch 3.5 - Trailer Screenshot

Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV patch 3.5 trailer and screenshots. For your information, Patch 3.5 will be the conclusion of the Heavensward expansion, which also means a prelude to the upcoming expansion Stormblood.

  • Horizon: Zero Dawn

Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan announced a free upgrade of Horizon: Zero Dawn standard edition into limited edition for anyone that has pre-ordered the game before its release on March 3 in Japan. In addition, a new trailer showcasing the game’s story, as well as the main characters, environments, villains, monsters, and many more has also been revealed.

  • Legrand Legacy

Legrand Legacy - Logo

After failing to meet the goal of £85,000, Semisoft has relaunched the Kickstarter campaign for Legrand Legacy. The new goal is £40,000 and they had the game’s pre-alpha prologue updated and rebalanced.

  • Persona 5

Persona 5 - Trailer Screenshot

Atlus USA PR Manager John Hardin said in his Twitter account that Persona 5 will be PS3 and PS4 exclusive. The response is made to clarify fans’ speculation that the game will come to PC, or Nintendo Switch, or even Xbox One. In addition, Persona 5’s original soundtrack is released in Japan. The DLC is also confirmed to come to west!

  • Scalebound

Scalebound - Screenshot

Scalebound, an action RPG planned to be released on Xbox One and PC, is officially cancelled. You can read the confirmation here.

Important VN update

  • The Great Ace Attorney 2

Great Ace Attorney 2 - FeaturedThe Great Ace Attorney 2 is confirmed by Capcom to be a 3DS exclusive title! The game is currently still in development and no exact date has been confirmed yet. Take a glimpse at the newest adventure of Phoenix Wright‘s ancestor here!

  • Kingdom Hearts 15th Anniversary

Kingdom Hearts - Memorial Stained Glass Clock - Featured

Square Enix is celebrating Kingdom Hearts’ 15th anniversary with a “Memorial Stained Glass Clock” campaign in Japan. The campaign has been held from at the beginning of January.



  • Digimon

Digimon - Special digivice

In celebration of Digimon’s 20th anniversary, Bandai Namco announced a special virtual pet device! Read more about the device here!


  • Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan

Aurion Legacy of the Kori Odan - FeatureThe first African-themed RPG Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is getting a Hollywood adaptation! The movie will be produced by Good Fear Film, and currently they’re still finding for a team and studio to work on the film. You can read all the juicy details here!

  • Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV - Yama-chanSquare Enix has recently released a unique bonus video of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, featuring an “epic” battle against Ultros!
