New Details for Persona 5 Story, Dungeons, and Characters before E3 2016!

Persona 5 Phantom Thieves

Following the US region release date announcement, Atlus has shared more new details for Persona 5 story, dungeons, and more! A quick summary for the new details:

  • As we know, the protagonist was held for detention in jail because he tried to help a woman which was harassed by a man. This led to his meeting with Velvet Room inhabitants, and they will help the protagonist to ‘rehabilitate’ him. Igor call him as a ‘captive of fate’.
  • The rehabilitation is done by making the protagonist as a ‘thief’ – Phantom Thieves – and order him and the group to steal ‘the hearts of evil adults‘.
  • The protagonist and his friends are given a smartphone application called ‘Isekai Navi‘ (Other World Navi) to infiltrate the Palace (dungeons in Persona 5) and reform the evil adults.
  • The protagonist and his friends can still enjoy the life as high school students. Attending classes, dating, doing part-time jobs, etc are available.
  • The episodes in Persona 5 play out on omnibus format. Each story is independent but connecting slowly to the truth.

Persona 5 Makoto Problem

Each character in Persona 5 has their own problem, which led to the awakening of their Persona

As an additional information, Atlus will show Persona 5 at the E3 2016 event next week and they will also host a special NicoNico Livestream called ‘Uncover The Phantom Thieves‘. It will begin on June 15 at 9:00 PM JST.

Persona 5 Story

– The Beginning –

Persona 5 The Animation with main protagonist

When I protected the woman from the man harassing her, he got hurt and pressed charges.

Whether it was for a small sense of justice, or possibly a different reason, the truth was distorted at the self-protection and convenience of rotten adults, and the protagonist began a “criminal record.” During his probation, the protagonist, who lives in an old-looking cafe in the metropolitan area, one day has a strange dream.

New details for Persona 5 story , characters, and Velvet Room inhabitants. Velvel Room is taking form as a Jail

Dressed in a prison uniform, he is apprehended in a blue prison. On the other side of the prison bars are twin guards, and enshrined in the back, an old man with a strange face, always hanging his head in thought.

When the protagonist went to sleep, he called—or invited—him to the mysterious blue prison known as the “Velvet Room“. It is a place that lies between dream and reality, and spirit and substance. It is a room that only someone bound by some sort of contract visits.

Persona 5 Twin Guards Velvel Room

Although the Velvet Room accommodates the hero in the form of a prison, the old man says, “the state of this room is the state of the mind of the contractor himself,” and that the young man is a “captive of fate”.

Ruin awaits this one in the near future. And nothing can be done but “rehabilitate” against it. “Rehabilitation to freedom”… that is the only way to avoid ruin.

She is level and calm with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to take action, but is a natural-born honors student who is overly serious and refuses to compromise. However, she has her own troubles as well, which will eventually trigger the awakening of her Persona, and thereby cause an incident.

Persona 5 Justine & Caroline

Twin prison guards that accompany Igor. They both look the same, and each wears a solemn eye patch on one eye. These two call themselves the guards of the Velvet Room, and generally receive the imprisoned protagonist with a sharp attitude and tone. Also, the twins vary greatly in punctuality and sometimes argue over treatment of the protagonist.
