Magic: The Gathering RPG Announced

Perfect World Entertainment along with Cryptic Studios currently develop a “AAA RPG” based on strategy card game Magic: The Gathering. This is totally great, considering that the game itself is currently a very popular card game according to echomtg.com, and steadily gaining popularity across the year.

So, what is Magic: The Gathering is about then? The answer lies ahead, matey!

Magic: The Gathering is considered to be one of the most popular strategy card games in the world. The card game allows players to assume the roles of Planeswalkers, powerful mages with the ability to travel between planes of existence, summon strange creatures, and cast powerful spells. In addition to that, the narrative surrounding the card game has continued to develop and evolve over the course of Magic: The Gathering’s long lifespan.

As exciting as it is, the making of the game is predicted to be another blast. It even makes Perfect World Entertainment CEO Bryan Huang commented the process of creating the game.

“It’s Magic: The Gathering like you’ve never experienced before. We are ecstatic about the direction of the game Cryptic has been shaping. It’s always been a dream of ours to bring Magic’s Planeswalkers to a modern RPG.”

Following his comment, Cryptic Studios CEO Stephen D’Angelo complemented that the game is highly rated since it is considered as ‘AAA’ class (refer to this if you want to know about AAA). He said:

“Everything from the graphics to the gameplay is being targeted for a truly unique AAA game. We’re thrilled to provide Magic fans with an opportunity to explore the game’s worlds and characters through an entirely new lens. Get ready to embark on a brand new journey.”

Magic: The Gathering is currently being developed for consoles and PC with unknown release date.
