Kingdom Hearts III is not showcased in the E3 2016 (yet), but Gamespot has been able to get a tiny bit of Kingdom Hearts III updates from interviewing Tai Yasue, the co-director of the series, during the event.
First, the possibility of releasing a compilation of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 Remix for PS4 is not ruled out. Below is the statement from him:
“We haven’t come to decision and nothing is announced yet. We listen to our fans and our players and see what they think about it–and, yeah, I’m not ruling it out, but we’re not making an announcement just yet.“
As a refresher, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix was released for PS3 and include the following games: Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (HD Cinematics). The second compilation, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, was released for PS3 too and include the following games: Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (HD Cinematics).
Second, there won’t be any Final Fantasy exclusive worlds in Kingdom Hearts III. Here is the reason:
“We’re not adding any Final Fantasy worlds. A lot of the original [to Kingdom Hearts] worlds [Hollow Bastion, Traverse Town, e.t.c.] had Final Fantasy characters in them. At this moment, we are not really coming up with any plans for that, we’re making original worlds and Disney worlds.“
Additionally, he also added that the development for the game is ‘moving along fine’. The latest compilation, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Prologue, will be released in December 2016 for PS4, along with the new information for Kingdom Hearts III as shown in the trailer here.
