Now that Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s release date is getting closer after they released the countdown trailer, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerilla Games released a launch trailer to celebrate.
Hermen Hulst, the Managing Director of Guerilla Games, says that Horizon: Zero Dawn is the most ambitious project they have ever worked on, as he mentioned on the PlayStation Blog.
When we began our journey over five years ago, we wanted to have the creative freedom to imagine something fresh. As soon as we saw the enthusiasm from the team for the concept, and our lead Aloy, we knew we were on the right path.
The result of our voyage is Horizon Zero Dawn – a game set in a lush post-apocalyptic world, in which Machines are the dominant species and mankind is propelled back to the stone ages. It is a game of exploration, not just of the perilous new world but also of Aloy’s identity.
On behalf of the entire team at Guerrilla, I hope you’ll enjoy accompanying Aloy on her journey as much as we have enjoyed creating it for you.
On the other note, even though the game is not out yet, Guerilla Games has detailed about patch 1.02, which will be available as soon as the game is out. The patch includes the following:
- Multiple crash and progression fixes
- Various fixes to avoid player getting stuck
- Updated visual settings
- Performance improvements
For the “updated visual settings” part, it adds manual HDR option into the game as well as graphic settings that allows you to pick either favor frame rate or resolution on PS4 Pro. Since that part of the update is only for PlayStation 4 Pro, it will show up as “Unavailable” on standard PS4.

The “favor frame rate” option allows you to run the game in smoother FPS, while the “favor resolution” lets you run the game in 2160p checkerboard resolution, or supersampling if your monitor doesn’t support 4K display.
