Not only they announced the Windows Edition of the game, Square Enix also announced a collaboration event for Final Fantasy XV with Ubisoft‘s Assassin’s Creed: Origins at Gamescom 2017. The event comes as a free DLC named Assassin’s Festival on August 31.
The collaboration event starts on August 30, when players who owned the Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will be gifted a “very familiar Assassin outfit” for Noctis. The main event, which is the Assassin’s Festival begins on the following day, August 31. The event takes place in the city of Lestallum, with signs and banners all over the town. Players will also get to enjoy new activities during the event.
As shown in the trailer, the gameplay elements of Assassin’s Creed series will also be implemented into Final Fantasy XV such as wall climbing, assassinating with hidden blade, leap of faith, and many more. Players can also obtain exclusive outfits for Noctis, Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus such as the “Medjay Assassin’s Robes”, which is the outfit used in the latest Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
Apparently, the idea of the collaboration began at Tokyo Game Show three years ago, where the two companies held an informal meeting to show admiration to each other’s work. To mark the announcement of the collaboration, an artwork featuring Final Fantasy XV‘s Noctis and Assassin’s Creed: Origins‘ Bayek was revealed at Gamescom 2017. “This collaboration is the result of being huge fans,” says Assassins Creed: Origins director Ashraf Ismail. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other’s work.”
