During a panel at PAX West 2016 event, Square Enix has explained an important gameplay element: Final Fantasy XV Ascension feature (thanks, DualShockers). Ascension is important for Noctis and the bros’ growth. It can be accessed through the main menu.
The look of Noctis’ Ascension Skill Tree
Several of important points for the Ascension Skill Tree feature:
- Ascensions supports each character’s ‘play style’ (note: quite similar to Sphere System in Final Fantasy X). You need to spend Ability Points (AP) in order to unlock skills. There are both Active and Passive Skills.
- Each character has a different composition for his Ascension Skill Tree. For example, Gladio has many tank skills, while Ignis has many support skills.
- The AP pool is common for the whole group. That means, you can choose to spend all the AP on your favorite character or distribute them among the party members.
Check out the footage below. The footage also includes some weapons and magic in action. Note that there is a mild spoiler regarding summon after the 9:30 mark.
Final Fantasy XV will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide in November 29, 2016 (delayed from September 30). You can read all post related to Final Fantasy XV here, or all Final Fantasy series here. Check also the collector’s edition here.
