The recent financial report from Square Enix indicates that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III are both scheduled to release in 2020. As for the reason, there has been no definite answer to that yet.
Kingdom Hearts III was first introduced at E3 2013, while Final Fantasy VII Remake was first announced at E3 2015, and yet there aren’t a lot of info about these two. With the release window of 2020, it is safe to predict that the games might actually be available on PlayStation 5 instead of PlayStation 4.
Though there hasn’t been any significant updates regarding those two titles, Square Enix opened a recruitment to work on the Final Fantasy VII Remake development team. This implies that they decided to utilize in-house developers instead of using external sources.
