Bandai Namco and FromSoftware announced via Nintendo Direct regarding their hit RPG Dark Souls. Dark Souls: Remastered are coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this May! Moreover, they also already prepared a PS4-exclusive Dark Souls Trilogy Box set.
Yep, guys! The legendary Dark Souls which sold 2.37 over million units worldwide and got positive reviews from many critics. The game was originally released back in September 2011 in Japan and a month later worldwide for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A spiritual successor to FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls, it is the second installment in the Souls series of games. And later in August 2012, the Windows version is released with title “Prepare to Die”.
Directed and produced by Hidetaka Miyazaki, also the man behind Armored Core series and Bloodborne. And composed by the unquestionable Motoi Sakuraba (Star Ocean series, Mario Bros series, Valkyrie series, Ragnarok Online and too many more great games to be listed here).
Storyline, via Bandai Namco.
Dark Souls takes place in the fictional kingdom of Lordran when the world was once shrouded by grey fog and ruled by dragons. Until finally the power of First Flame and Lord Soul defeated the dragons, and begin the Age of Fire.
Over time, the flames begin to fade with the rise of humans. A sacrifice of a soul is required to prolong the Age of Fire. With the flame artificially rekindled, the undead curse begins to plague humanity, causing certain humans to continually resurrect upon death.
Players assume the role of a cursed undead character locked away in an undead asylum who begins a pilgrimage to discover the fate of his kind.
Not much of details revealed in the trailer but some updated graphics in an armored figure ignites one of the game’s bonfires in the game’s hub location, the Firelink Shrine.
In addition, Bandai Namco also gave a clarification regarding some misinformation, as quoted below.
“So to correct a few things that I posted about yesterday – Dark Souls Remastered will not include new assets based on the Dark Souls 3 engine or any combat differences. There is no HDR lighting for the PS4 Pro version.”
