I Am Setsuna is a brand new IP in RPG games from Square Enix and have been released in Japan for PS4 and PS Vita last February 2016. It was first announced at E3 2015 last year and infamously known as the Chrono Trigger-inspired RPG Project Setsuna, due to its classic Active Battle System is similar with Chrono Trigger.
The game, which Japanese title is ‘Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna‘, is developed by a new studio called the Tokyo RPG Factory, with Atsushi Hashimoto as the development team project leader. Hashimoto is the director behind Final Fantasy Explorer and a planner for Kid Icarus Uprising, both are games for Nintendo 3DS.

The world’s setting in I Am Setsuna
I Am Setsuna is an RPG with ‘Sadness‘ and ‘Chrono Trigger-inspired battle system‘ as its central theme and keyword. The story follows a maiden named Setsuna and her companions: an unnamed mercenary, a former traveler named Kuon, and a carefree veteran soldier named Yomi.
Following an ancient custom in the island, she is on a journey to a sacred ritual site in the edge of the world to sacrifice herself to appease the demons . The land they live is bounded by winter and angry demons may interrupt the peace. Thus, sacrifice is deemed as necessary to stop the hostile acts from the demons, and Setsuna is chosen as the next sacrifice.
