Since Final Fantasy has fifteen main series, there are a lot of main characters of the whole franchise. Every main character is unique, but there are some who were outranking the others because of their abilities in battle. Here are the top 7 strongest Final Fantasy main characters from all series.

7. Vaan (Final Fantasy XII)

Vaan - Final Fantasy XII

Vaan is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XII and he also stars in some of Final Fantasy games. He is an orphan street thief who has grudges with the Archadian Empire after the death of his brother and the subjugation of his homeland. He dreams to become a sky pirate and owns his private airship so he can travel across Ivalice. Although he is the main character, he doesn’t play a large role in the story.

Aside from his lack of crucial role in story, Vaan is a main character of the game with reasons. He is the best party member in the team as he has the best stats among the others. Vaan also has the ability to fire off multiple attacks each turn, due to the high combo rate of weapons such as ninja swords and katana. Not only that, he can also summons any Esper in the game to assist the party in battle.

In the game, Lightning is notable for her speed and her ability to fire off multiple attacks using only a single ATB bar, unlike the other Final Fantasy characters who usually can only hit once per turn. She can shift her role in battle, allowing her to change her tactics with just the press of a button. Not only able to summons Eidolons, Lightning is known to possess a powerful restorative ability for the party.

His adventure begins when his hometown attacked by an enormous monster called Sin. He traveled along with Yuna, a summoner who is trying to put an end to Sin. In the game, Tidus is one of three characters who can fights underwater.

The Sphere Grid system in Final Fantasy X allows Tidus access to almost every ability in-game, with the notable exception of summons magic. Because of that, he has a huge range of action to call on combat, helped with his strength and blinding speed. He also has the Overdrive which is on par compared with the likes of Omnislash or Lion Heart Limit Break.

But in exchange, she was gifted with the ability to use Dresspheres, which will give her access to the abilities of numerous different jobs. Her default Dressphere, the Gunner, allowed her to perform over 20 attacks which each dealt 9999 points of damage. She can also use Alchemist Dressphere to use infinite amount of healing items in battle.

He wields a gunblade as a weapon, which is one of the iconic weapons of the entire Final Fantasy series. Squall idolized a mythical winged lion named Griever which he thinks representing courage and strength, as his symbol.

While Final Fantasy VIII is known for its powerful Guardian Forces, our ultimate weapon in battle isn’t the Guardian Forces themselves. Sooner or later, you will realize that Limit Break plays a very important role in fighting difficult enemies and winning the battles. Squall has the Lion Heart Limit Break, which delivers multiple strikes and can be accessed whenever his HP is low or Aura is cast on him during battles.

2. Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII)

Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII

Cloud is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII and the most popular persona among the RPG characters. Although he isn’t a silent protagonist, Cloud doesn’t speak too much at first. As a former SOLDIER’s proud swordsman, he became arrogant and selfish. But after he discovers about his past, he began to value friendship and starts protecting others, even the Planet.

Cloud has access to his trademark Limit Break: Omnislash which is the best in the game since it can unleashed significant amount of damage in just one turn. The Materia system in Final Fantasy VII also allows him to combine abilities such as Final Attack & Phoenix combo. Not only that, Cloud has access to Knights of the Round materia, which is one of the strongest summon in the entire series.
