Talking about Persona series seems to never end. There are so many things that made this series become so valuable and worth to be talked about. From the soundtrack, characters, and gameplay of the games in the Persona series were made pretty well that most of the time it amazed us. So, as a fellow Persona series lover, let me present you top 7 Persona games according to Metacritic.
7. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth (Score: 81)
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a dungeon crawler RPG developed and published by Atlus for Nintendo 3DS. It was released in Japan in 2018, and worldwide a year after. The game is a spin-off of the Persona series, and part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a sequel to Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.
The story of the game focuses on the cast of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. The game starts with a trip to Mementos, where Joker and the rest of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts find themselves in a film, which is connected to a theater that is locked from the inside. As the story goes, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts will meet allies from other Persona games and try to get out from the mysterious place.
6. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (Score: 83)
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is a RPG developed by Atlus and chronologically the third installment in the Persona series, a subseries of the Megami Tensei franchise. It was originally published in 2000 by Atlus in Japan and North America for the PlayStation. The game was later remade by Atlus for the PlayStation Portable and was released in Japan in 2012.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment takes place in the fictional Japanese city of Sumaru, and is a direct sequel to Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Taking place a few months after Innocent Sin, the game follows reporter Maya Amano as she investigates the Joker Curse, a malign phenomenon where people’s wishes and rumors are coming true and causing chaos.
5. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth (Score: 83)
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is a RPG developed by Atlus for Nintendo 3DS. It is part of the the Persona series, itself part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. The game was published across all territories in 2014, with Atlus published the game in Japan and North America, while NIS America published it for the PAL region.
The story of the game is a crossover between Persona 3 and Persona 4, whose characters are drawn from their respective time periods by an unknown force and sent into a replica of Persona 4’s Yasogami High School in another world. The groups must unite and explore four labyrinths in the school to recover treasures hidden within which can restore Zen and Rei’s memories, and to find a way to escape.
4. Persona 4 Arena (Score: 86)
Persona 4 Arena is a fighting video game co-developed by Atlus and Arc System Works for arcades, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It is part of the the Persona series, itself part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. Gameplay follows standard fighting games conventions, with matches between two characters with individual movesets, and special expendable abilities.
The story is set two months after the events of Persona 4, and two years after its predecessor Persona 3. The Investigation Team of Persona 4 is drawn into a new mystery involving the P-1 Grand Prix, a fighting tournament within the Midnight Channel dimension that pits the Investigation Team against the Shadow Operatives, a group formed by the surviving SEES of Persona 3.
3. Persona 3 FES (Score: 89)
Persona 3 FES is an enhanced re-release of Persona 3 and was released in 2007 for the PlayStation 2. This enhanced version of Persona 3 was made on the same console with bonus chapters: The Journey and The Answer. The Journey is essentially a slightly-enhanced remake of the original Persona 3, while The Answer is an all-new epilogue that continues the story.
The story follows a group of high school students with the name of SEES who were trying to cooperate with each other in a world where death is acceptable. Together, they investigate a mysterious time period called Dark Hour and found out Tartarus, a huge tower containing Shadows. To fight them the members of SEES summons Persona as a manifestation of their inner self.
2. Persona 4 Golden (Score: 93)
Persona 4 Golden is an enhanced port of PlayStation 2’s Persona 4 that was released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012 and Microsoft Windows in 2020. It is an expanded version of the PlayStation 2 title, adding new features and story elements to the game. A new character named Marie was added to the story. Additional Personas, character outfits, and expanded spoken lines and anime cutscenes are included as well.
The story follows a group of high school students dealing with a mysterious TV channel which distorted the truth of who they are and their identities. A string of bizarre murders related to the TV channel begins to disturb their peaceful town. Together, they explore the mysterious world inside the TV and rescuing other victims from death. The answer of who was the serial killer lies inside the TV.
1. Persona 5 (Score: 93)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5 is the sixth installment of the Persona series. This game was developed by Atlus (P-Studio) for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It was released in Japan first in 2016, and worldwide in 2017. The Japan and North America version was published by Atlus while the Europe and Australia published by Deep Silver.
This game basically revolves around troubled high school students which consist of the main protagonist and his compatriots. These teenagers realized that they are living in a corrupted and dangerous world, so in order to seek freedom and justice they formed a group called Phantom Thieves of Hearts. With the assistance of Personas, they try to change the adults by entering their hearts.

Personally, I think that most of Persona games are masterpieces. There was time when you will be amazed in most of the gameplay of each popular game. And I will choose Persona 5 as my favorite also since this title is the only one that can give me shock theraphy with its stunning storyline and plot twists. And I think this one is really deserved the first place of all the games in the franchise.
