Since its first game, Final Fantasy series has developed a number of different combat systems and often attract gamers with its complex but enjoyable mechanics. 7. Final Fantasy XII (PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4)
The original Final Fantasy XII is a fantasy JRPG developed and published by Squaresoft for PlayStation 2 in 2006. The game is a part of Final Fantasy series with some changes in gameplay: an open world, a seamless battle system, a controllable camera, and many more. In 2017, Square Enix released Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age as a high-definition remaster of the International Zodiac Job System on multiplatform.
The game takes place in the fictional world of Ivalice, where the empires of Archadia and Rozzaria are waging an endless war. Ashe, princess of Dalmasca which caught between the warring nations meets Vaan, a young adventurer who dreams of becoming a sky pirate in command of an airship. By creating a resistance movement, Ashe and the party rally against the tyranny of the Archadian Empire.

World of Final Fantasy is a RPG developed by Tose and Square Enix who also published it. It was released worldwide for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 in October 2016 and for Microsoft Windows in November 2017. The game still utilizes turn-based battle system along with the recurring Active Time Battle, augmented with a stacking mechanic of allied characters and monsters.
World of Final Fantasy is primarily set in the world of Grymoire, a land populated by classic Final Fantasy characters and monsters across the series. The storyline focuses on twin siblings Lann and Reynn, who suffer from amnesia and hold the power in one of their arms to capture and wield Mirages, the monsters of Grymoire.
5. Final Fantasy X (Switch, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Final Fantasy X would be one of the best PlayStation 2 games that have ever been played by any RPG lover. The popularity of the game made by Square Enix proved to be on top of mind of every player at that time. Final Fantasy X was originally released in 2001 for PlayStation 2, and later released in PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita with better graphics.
The story follows Tidus, the main protagonist and a famous Blitzball (a kind of sport played inside a sphere of water) player from Zanarkand and the son of Jecht. His adventure begins when his hometown attacked by an enormous monster called Sin. He traveled along with Yuna, a summoner who is trying to put an end to Sin.
4. Final Fantasy V (Android, iOS, Game Boy Advance, SNES, PlayStation, Wii U, PC)
Final Fantasy V is a fantasy RPG developed and published by Square in 1992 as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game first appeared only in Japan on Nintendo’s Super Famicom. An enhanced port of the game, with new high-resolution graphics and a touch-based interface was released for iPhone and iPad on March, 2013 and for Android on September 2013.
The game begins as a wanderer named Bartz investigates a fallen meteor. There, he encounters several characters, one of whom reveals the danger facing the four Crystals that control the world’s elements. These Crystals act as a seal on Exdeath, an evil sorcerer. Bartz and his party must keep the Crystals from being exploited by Exdeath’s influence and prevent his resurgence.
3. Final Fantasy VII (Android, iOS, Switch, PlayStation, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Final Fantasy VII is a RPG developed by Square in 1997 for PlayStation. The game is the seventh main installment in the Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy VII is without a doubt one of the greatest creations of Square Enix. There are too many reasons why this title feels everlasting; now it even has a remake on PlayStation 4. The success has moved Square Enix to port this game into multiplatform.
We will play as Cloud, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII and the most popular persona among the RPG characters. Although he isn’t a silent protagonist, Cloud doesn’t speak too much at first. As a former SOLDIER’s proud swordsman, he became arrogant and selfish. But after he discovers about his past, he began to value friendship and starts protecting others, even the Planet.
2. Final Fantasy XV (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Final Fantasy XV is the fifteenth installment in the main Final Fantasy series. The game was released worldwide in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and later for PC in 2018 as Windows Edition. The modern touch in this game is the open world gameplay and the real-time battle system or known as Active Cross Battle System, where the battles take place in the current environment.
The story tells about Noctis (the main protagonist who is a prince from the kingdom of Lucis) with his three companions: Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto who fights together to reclaim his throne and must go on to fulfill a greater destiny. This game’s prominent themes are friendship, destiny, and legacy. Final Fantasy XV places the characters in a more realistic setting than most Final Fantasy games.
1. Final Fantasy Tactics (Android, PlayStation)
Final Fantasy Tactics is a tactical RPG created and developed by Squaresoft in 1997 for PlayStation. It is very popular in its era where RPG lovers lack of tactical games with good storyline and nice gameplay. What is so good about this game is that you can change your character’s job like in early Final Fantasy games, but this time it involves skill combination which makes the game even more exciting.
The story sets in Ivalice, a unified kingdom of seven territories which is caught in the middle of war (War of the Lions) between two opposing factions vying for rule of the kingdom. We will play as Ramza Beoulve, a member of the respected House Beoulve, who finds himself caught in the middle of the war and later trying to uncover the truth behind a sinister plot to save the kingdoms from destruction.

Final Fantasy games offer so many things that will easily loved by fans. Personally, the combat system attracts me most, because I have been growing together with Final Fantasy series since long, and the combat system always made me sit longer. My favorite goes to Final Fantasy VII because it has improved in term of visual, while still implementing the same combat system used in prior games.
