#ThrowbackRPG – Male Playable Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Characters

Star Ocean Till the End of Time Wallpaper

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is the third installment of the Star Ocean main series. Developed by tri-Ace and published by Square Enix, this game was released in 2003 for PlayStation 2. Regarding the series’ timeline, this game takes place four hundred years after Star Ocean: The Second Story. The game introduces Fayt Leingod, the main protagonist who is on a mission to save his world from perish.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time could be one of the tri-Ace series that has the best battle system; extending the limits of standard turn-based and action battle system. The combat system is much more similar to the system used in Rogue Galaxy, where it almost nullifies the system other than active battle system completely. Most of the system in-game is remarkably deep, but still fun to be played.

Nobody has questioned tri-Ace’s quality since the first Star Ocean game made in 1996. The graphics, the gameplay, and especially the battle system astonished the players ever since the beginning of the series until now; but I think, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time has the best plot twist by far. So, let us not waste any more time here is the introduction of the male playable characters of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

1. Fayt Leingod

Fayt Leingod - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

Fayt is the main protagonist of the game and a student of Symbological Genetics in Bachtein Science University. He is a son of Dr. Robert Leingod who was known for his famous authority in Symbological Genetics. Although he is a smart lad, he is kind of lazy when it comes to college work. His adventure begins when he took a vacation in Hyda IV, a famous resort planet, to ignore his work.

Fayt wields swords in battle and his normal attack consists of simple slashes and kicks. His battle skills reflect his power of Destruction and become more magical as he levels up. In terms of style, Fayt is a Symbological Swordsman—just like Ashton Anchors from Star Ocean: The Second Story hundreds of years prior.

2. Cliff Fittir

Cliff Fittir - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

Cliff is another main character of the game who is a 36 years old Klausian and a member of the anti-Federation movement: Quark (later revealed as the founder). He often works with his partner-in-crime Mirage Koas, and incredibly strong compared to Earthlings with stamina that far outpaces them. He considers himself as Fayt’s protector and his guide for most of the story, knowing more than he lets on.

Cliff uses fist gauntlets in battle, rejecting any weapon such as blades or guns (with the exception of his hidden skill: Max Shockwave). His special attack consists mostly of close range multiple hit moves. Cliff’s attack power is higher than most, but in contrast his defense is lower than Fayt; that is why he is unable to hit a zero level damage of constitution until much further when better armor is available.

3. Roger S. Huxley

Roger S. Huxley - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

Roger is another one of the playable characters who is a young Menodix from the Lost City of Surferio which lies in the Sanmite Republic of the planet Elicoor II. His father is the elder of the Lost City of Surferio. Fayt and the party stumble across him trapped due to a challenge gone wrong while looking for Ameena in the Duggus Forest. If the party decided to help out, Roger may be recruited.

Roger’s fighting style involves a large axe and a number of traps and tricks such as land mines. He has many attacks which draw enemies to him, along with heavy close range attacks. Roger has a healthy balance of attack, defense, and HP, making him a great melee fighter. His only real weakness is his lower MP pool and overall MP growth during level ups just like Cliff.

4. Albel Nox

Albel Nox - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

Albel is a playable character in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. He is an Elicoorian swordsman from the kingdom of Airyglyph. The guy who is also known as Albel the Wicked fights the group until about half part of the game before he finally joins. The proud leader of a group called Black Brigade is easily recognized by his gauntlet and his katana. He will join the team in order to defeat Vendeeni.

Albel’s fighting style is based on quick attacks with a katana and making use of his ability to channel energy through his gauntlet, thus allowing him to attacks both up close and from afar. His Minor Attacks are unique, as they can be consecutively chained for as long as his Fury lasts, giving him a great combo potential. Albel’s fighting style is a modified version of the Edarl Sword Style.

5. Adray Lasbard

Adray Lasbard - Star Ocean Till the End of Time

Adray is one of the main characters of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Director’s Cut. He is a member of the Crimson Blade of Aquios and the father of the fellow Crimson Blade, Clair Lasbard. Along with Nel’s father, Nevelle Zelpher, they succeeded in supporting the growth and foundation of the Aquarian Kingdom. The chance to recruit him appears if we choose to see the queen of Aquarian before fighting Vox.

Adray is a hybrid-type of character, using both Symbology and physical attacks with katanas as his weapon. Many of his physical attacks are extremely powerful, but tend to be more cumbersome and hard to use. He is often best used as a support character to power up allies or attacks enemies from afar. His far ranged attacks also has MP properties, thus he can be rather useful with MP kills.

Star Ocean series seem to be growing rapidly since the first game. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is the first game where the graphics are improved greatly with fully rendered 3D. Not only the graphics, the battle system also improved to challenge the players. And my favorite character goes to Albel; his bad-guy-turns-good-guy role is interesting, along with his badass appearance as well.
