Android is actually an operating system made for smartphones. Initially, it was created to bring comfort and easiness for people in using smartphones as communicating device. But as time goes by, game developers make use of the smartphone abilities to create a game as good as console games. And one of the game genres was RPG or also known as role-playing games.

For RPG lovers, the existence of Japanese-style RPG (JRPG) is undeniable. First generations RPG are based on the JRPG gameplay like Final Fantasy series or Dragon Quest series had. And now with the capability of smartphones, there are more Android games similar to it or an even better one in terms of gameplay. Here are 7 recommended Japanese-style Android RPG in 2018 that you shouldn’t miss!

I think we don’t need to question about the quality of the game, since both company are already well known for its excellent games. In this game, we will need to choose one of the three nations at first. After that, we will control our character in a 50 vs 50 real-time battle in one map.

Basically, that 50 vs 50 war was to seize as much territory as possible. To do that, we need to play defensive and also offensive. But to win the war we will not relying only on the characters; there are towers and pets to assist us in winning the war. Our strategy is also very important in winning every battle.

2. Aura Kingdom R

Aura Kingdom R is the second mobile MMORPG based on the popular PC online game, Aura Kingdom. The game franchise is developed by Taiwanese studio, X-Legend Entertainment which had several global PC games title. Basically Aura Kingdom R will adapt the same concept as the PC version, but with more Eidolons and iconic Journey to the West characters which will be dubbed by Japanese voice actors.

Soul Keeper: Awakening is an action-MMORPG as a mobile version of anime-styled hack’n’slash PC game SoulWorker. The Chinese game developer, Adwo has brought SoulWorker into mobile devices officially after successfully launch the beta versions of the game. There are no significant differences with the PC version, only the mobile player needs to adapt with the control of the smartphone.

Both Nintendo and Cygames are known to have created many great games for RPG lovers. For some players, the Atelier series are probably one of the hardest series to follow, especially to new players. Not only because it has different characters and storyline for each title, but also because it already has more than 30 Atelier series game scattered in multi-platform.

Atelier Online combines the usual features of Atelier series with online play and the possibility of co-operation with other players. We can also play solo, with the freedom to customize appearance, skills, and equipment. The fields’ appearance, monsters, and collectable materials in this game changes as the season and weather shifts. There are also iconic characters such as Rorona and Marie from the series.

7. Tales of Erin

Tales of Erin is a Japanese story-focused mobile RPG developed by Efun for smartphones. Its main factors are the good deliverance of action, drama, tactics, and fantasy, set in a cold war between God and the human world. Every character has a different background story that is exciting to follow. For JRPG lover, this one is a must-play game because the characters are dubbed by the famous seiyuu!

It is always fun to be able to find our favorite RPG on every console or device we have. Now with the development in technology, we can even play good RPG titles on our smartphone. From the list above, I think my favorite goes to Fantasy Earth Genesis. The 50 vs 50 real-time combat might be so challenging and also amusing.
