Now is the turn for mobile devices to shine. By implementing Android OS, we can make use our smartphone for many purposes, including playing games. Not only casual games, but also RPG that is hard to find before, since this genre only infested consoles. And now with the greatness of Android operating system, you can play these 5 Android RPG without the needs of internet connection while playing.
1. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Valkyrie Profile is one of the best classic masterpieces that classic consoles ever had. Known firstly on PlayStation, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is also available in later console such as PSP. And now, we can even play it in Android and iOS based devices. The story is about Norse mythology involving gods and mortals, who were in cooperation to prepare for the Ragnarok, the war between gods.
In Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, we will play as Lenneth, one of the goddess of battle who was searching the suitable human to help in facing the upcoming Ragnarok. Those people are later called Einherjar, the soul of mortals who were recruited in assisting the Odin’s army. The Einherjar consists of swordsman, mages, and archers. Our task is to recruit best of the best and send them to protect Asgard.
2. Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a farming simulation RPG developed by Eric Barone and published by Chucklefish. The game was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 2016 then later ported for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, macOS, and Linux. Barone developed the game over four years and heavily inspired by Harvest Moon series with some aditional fatures from him.
In Stardew Valley the player takes the role of a character who, to get away from the hustle of the city, takes over his deceased grandfather’s dilapidated farm in a place known as Stardew Valley. Players will manages their character’s time and energy levels as they clear land, plant crops, raise livestock, craft goods, mine for ores and engage in social activities including romances leading to marriage.
3. Monster Hunter Stories
Monster Hunter Stories is a RPG developed by Marvelous and published by Capcom. The game is a spin-off title set within the Monster Hunter series. Monster Hunter Stories was released initially in 2016 for 3DS. The mobile version of the game was released in Japan (late 2017) and worldwide (2018) for Android and iOS based mobile devices.
Unlike the previous title in Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Stories lets player to take on the role of a Rider instead of a Hunter. The battle will uses turn-based system instead of hack-and-slash gameplay that was used in the other games in the series. As a Rider, we can hatch eggs, and befriend with monsters, also fighting alongside them and executing special Bond attack moves.
4. Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space
Another Eden: The Cat beyond Time and Space, is a free-to-play RPG developed by Wright Flyer Studios and published by GREE, Inc for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. The game features the collaboration of writer Masato Kato and music composer Yasunori Mitsuda who both worked on legendary RPG Xenogears and Chrono series in PlayStation.
Another Eden involves time travel elements where players explore different points in time. The game stars Aldo, the game’s main protagonist, and his sister Feinne. The game follows them as a demon king seeks to use Feinne’s dormant abilities to erase humans from the world. During a desperate moment while failing to rescue his sister, Aldo escapes 800 years into the future.
5. Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition
Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition is a RPG developed and published by Square Enix in 2018. It is an abridged version of the popular Final Fantasy XV, and was released for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition was aimed for gamer who don’t own a console; instead, they can play this game through their smartphone.
The story tells about Noctis, the prince from the kingdom of Lucis, with his three companions: Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto who fights together to reclaim his throne and must go on to fulfill a greater destiny. This game’s prominent themes are friendship, destiny, and legacy. Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition follows the same plot as the original game, minus the open world gameplay.
