There are many nice RPG series loved by fans. Because of that reason, game developers keep making the game that RPG lover need. Although they sounds promising, but there are some that were failed to release and never actually saw the light of day, even until now. In this list are 5 cancelled RPG you never knew existed; those games have never been realized, but who knows what will happen in the future.
1. Baldur’s Gate III: The Black Hound
Baldur’s Fate III: The Black Hound was to be a video game, the third entry in the Dungeons & Dragons Baldur’s Gate series, as the sequel to Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. It was to be developed by Black Isle Studios and was announced in 2002, but it appeared to have been cancelled in 2003, though Interplay Entertainment as the publisher made no such announcement.
2. Dungeon Hero
Dungeon Hero was to have been a hack-and-slash RPG developed by Firefly Studios and published by Gamecock Media Group. It had been in development for several years and had been scheduled to be released in 2009. Originally being published by Gamecock Media Group, the game were bought out by SouthPeak Games until Firefly Studios has announced that the title is ‘on hold’.
3. Warrior’s Lair
Warrior’s Lair was an action RPG set in a medieval fantasy setting being developed for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. The game was actually presented in June 2011 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and was being co-developed by Sony Computer Entertainment and Idol Minds, but Sony announced its cancellation in July 2013.
4. Chronos Materia
Chronos Materia is a cancelled RPG by Gust Co. Ltd. The game was announced in 2013 as PlayStation Vita exclusive title, but was quietly cancelled in April 2016. The game was intended to be a new IP by Gust that would have mixed many of the elements of their Atelier and Ar Nosurge series of games with elements of time travel.
5. Shadow Realms
Shadow Realms is a cancelled action RPG previously under development by BioWare’s Austin studio. The game was set to be published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and was scheduled for release in 2015. On February 9, 2015, BioWare Austin announced that the development on Shadow Realms would not continue.

It is so unfortunate for us RPG lover those games were never come to realization. But let us not losing hope, as there might be a better game from the respective game developer of each cancelled RPG. Speaking about a favorite, it is impossible to pick a favorite one out of the cancelled games but I hope games like Chronos Materia will have a successor or maybe a similar one that is so JRPG.
