| By: Bismuth

Sega announces an upcoming chain scenario RPG called World Chain. The game is developed by staffs of Chain Chronicle, a tower-defense roleplaying game released in iOS, Android, and PS Vita.

World Chain’s genre is listed as school life X history IF. It tells a story about high school kids who get mixed in “what if” historic situations. In the story, the protagonist wakes up in the academy in which history has been altered, and people have disappeared. Then he finds a mysterious smartphone, Chain Driver, a tool that can make him go to past to “rewrite” history. During the journey, the protagonist will meet several heroes from different eras as the characters tell the story of the mysterious Rewriters. The protagonists, called Rewriters, will befriend historic heroes and borrow their powers. About 130 to 140 heroes are expected to appear, each of whom have their own individual stories.

Battles will be conducted by summoning the heroes that the protagonists have bonded with, using their powers in real-time defense game action. Parties contain one hero for each Rewriter set, and every character has their own parameters and abilities. There are adventure parts in visual novel-like gameplay for deepening the bond with the characters. It will feature conversations among the Rewriters as well.

World Chain will be available for Android and iOS on Fall 2016 in Japan.
