Square Enix shared some new information at PAX East 2017 on the upcoming Episode Gladiolus DLC for Final Fantasy XV with a trailer, screenshots, and a key visual.
Unlike Noctis that has high mobility in combat, Gladiolus is a very tanky, physical character that relies heavily on offense and defense.
On the offense side, chaining Gladio’s normal attacks increases the “Glaiveheart” gauge, which allows him to unleash his special attack once it is full.
On the flip side, Gladio can block enemies’ attacks which increases his Rage gauge up to 4x. The higher the stacks, the higher Gladio’s attack power. Perfectly-timed blocks add a lot to the gauge, as well as staggers the enemies, leaving them wide open for a powerful counter-attack. It may be a bit tricky to perform a perfect block, as it is intended by the dev team to make it more challenging.

The trailer shows Gladio undertaking the Trial of Gilgamesh. However, it doesn’t look like the Gilgamesh that Final Fantasy fans love. This Gilgamesh is an original to the world of Final Fantasy XV, who is a very powerful blademaster. Unlike the Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V, this one doesn’t fool around. Even Cor Leonis had a history with him.
